Palm Sunday in Kościelisko – one of the most beautiful traditions
There are days in the year when Kościelisko looks different than usual.
The silence is the same. The mountains are the same.
And yet you can feel that something important is happening.
For me, such a day is Palm Sunday.
The morning that begins the holidays
From early morning in Kościelisko you can see people with palms.
Not ones bought in the store.
Only those made by hand.
Colorful, tall, crafted in every detail.
Each one different.
Solemn mass at 11
The most important moment of the day is the solemn mass at 11 o'clock.
That is when everyone gathers together.
With palms, families, in a festive mood.
It is not just a tradition.
It is something truly experienced.
The contest everyone awaits
After mass, something that always attracts attention begins — the contest for the most beautiful and biggest palm.
And here there really is something to see.
The palms are:
- tall
- colorful
- detailed
- made with great commitment
Sometimes it's hard to believe how much work someone put into their preparation.
What I like the most
I like the moment when everyone stands together.
Children, adults, elderly.
Each with their own palm.
And no one is in a hurry.
Zakopane and Kościelisko – two different Palm Sundays
Zakopane also celebrates.
But here, in Kościelisko, everything is more local.
Closer.
More genuine.
As an owner, I see something more
My Guests often say:
"We did not know it looked like this."
And they are surprised.
Because they come not only to the mountains.
But also to a tradition that is still alive.
If someone is in the mountains then
It is worth coming to Kościelisko precisely on Palm Sunday.
Not for attractions.
For the experience. It is one of those days that stay in memory for a long time.
